The Intrepid Host:

Gregory Zephyr

Gregory Zephyr holds a child-like (or is it cat-like?) curiosity about life and the goings-on around this little village called San Francisco. After years of muttering to himself, he decided it was time for others to hear his musings. Hence,  anythingSF podcast was born. Zephyr is from the Greek god Zephyrus and translates as a light breeze or wind from the West.

The Buzz:

Journalist Steve Friess (Newsweek, USA Today, New York Times) had this to say about the Anything San Francisco podcast:

"He does a very good job! ...San Francisco is one of those cities, like Vegas, that has its groupies."

California Comedy:

Is it politically correct to make fun of Californians?

California Culture - What do Minneapolis, Las Vegas, L.A., and San Francisco have in common? Nothing! Read why.

Moving to California - Breast augmentation taxes, automobile rims and stereo requirements for CA drivers, and other important things new residents should know.

Finding an Apartment - Lower your expectations and raise your budget because apartment hunting in San Francisco is worse than getting a root canal and considerably more expensive.

Archive - Prior shows to download, notes, and information.

Get in the Holiday spirit! Featured Christmastime musical artists:

Russ Lorenson

Russ Lorenson - Based in San Francisco, Russ Lorenson is a new generation of singer in the image of Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra. He plays both around the Bay Area and tours across the country. First recorded by Vic Damone in 1968, the song "Christmas in San Francisco" was covered by Russ in 2005 and is featured on his holiday album, "What I Want for Christmas." Featured as the closing song on show #30.

Patsy and Elmo

Elmo & Patsy - Treasured Holiday classic, "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" was first recorded in 1979 by local performers Elmo and Patsy Shropshire. Written by Randy Brooks, it was first played on the air by San Francisco radio station KSFO. Featured as the opening song on show #30.

Oakland Gospel Choir

Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir - 2007 marked the 22nd annual holiday concert by the 55-member East Bay choir. The choir performs year round throughout the Bay and was featured at the 40th annual Atlanta Arts Festival, the 1997 International Music Festival in Sydney, Australia, and every Bay Area jazz festival. They've performed with such notable singers as Tramaine Hawkins, Take 6, Linda Ronstadt, Peter Gabriel, John Denver, and Jeffrey Osborne.

SF Gay Mens Chorus

San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus - 2008 marks the 30th anniversary of this famous San Francisco choir. Their Home for the Holidays concert in 2007 marks their 18th annual Christmas performance. With over 200 members, the chorus has received numerous awards. Returning from their first national tour in 1981, then-Mayor Dianne Feinstein (now Senator) presented the Chorus with a Key to the City—the first time a gay-identified group was so honored. A medley of Christmas carols is featured in show #30.
